Preview Night 2010

It's like a dress rehearsal for the weekend. A little loose and rusty, but lots of fun and a couple of pitchers too.

What Am I Doing in Chicago, right now?

I'm re-encoding a lot of film files and checking the shows with Nels to make sure there aren't any glitches. So far there ARE glitches and luckily we have time to fix them.
Nels is thinking that going HiDef this year might not be worth the extra trouble it causes. It does cause a lot of extra troubles.
Our new media player is working out quite well, but it's not perfect. It accepts more formats than any of the others we've tried, but it's not perfect.
Nels is making notes about any special treatment that a show might require. Some movies have the color-bars, slate and countdown hard coded into the file or the DVD. This is inconvenient for us, however if a festival still shows your movie on a DVD player then I'm sure it's REALLY inconvenient.

I'm a little muddled, a little tired and a lot busy. I gotta go.

Welcome To Chicago

Landed in one piece, but it was bumpy.
Highlight of the flight is when the guy on my left knocked my orange juice onto my pant leg and my hoodie but didn't notice. The guy on my right was sleeping soundly and I couldn't get up to go to the restroom because the plane had started it's bumpy descent into O'Hare.

Oh, and the movie was M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, so how do YOU think the flight went?

The Smart Patrol, now on Facebook

If I did this right, you're on Facebook and this showed up. If I didn't, then it's all for nought.

This American Life iPhone App: Another Reason My iPhone Is Ruling

As a proud downloader of the podcast (and before the podcast, a not-so-proud "try to rip the RealPlayer stream"-er), my fondness for This American Life is already on record. Now they offer an iPhone app and for just $2.99 you can stream any episode you like, at will, right to your favorite telephoning machine, iPod touch or iPad if you are some kind of crazy time traveller, in which case please post your Lost spoilers in the feedback.

iPad - The Superbowl Commercial I want to see

Parry Gripp just gets it.
Now that Apple has money has more money than god, they could run this spot during the Superbowl and watch heads (mine included) explode all across the nation.
On a sidenote, using nachos to illustrate any point is incredibly helpful.
Do our friends in the UK have nacho technology at this time or are these salient points lost on them?
Nachos are very similar to your haggis, except for the cheese and corn chips and the uh, chopped lamb's heart boiled in a goat's stomache.
