It's the same no matter what your profession: the most brilliant people come up with the simplest ideas. The majority of the top papers in my field of study are the ones where people say "That's such a simple idea. Why didn't I think of that?"

I might be able to do that, but regardless, as you noted, this man is already out there doing it on a grand stage. Ha. Good for him.
I generally don't begrudge people who don't have phenomenal talent yet are famous. David Blaine is an exception to this rule, however, as I loathe that guy for some reason.
