I don't know who sang that song originally, but I have a version by Robert Earl Keen that I like quite a bit.
Dave Alvin wrote the song when he was playing guitar with the band X. And as far as I know the X version is the first one.
Interesting. Thanks as I like to know who wrote songs I like because I generally have more respect for singer/songwriters.
